Will a lawyer visit my family member at their hospital bedside?

I have a family member in the hospital after a serious car crash, will the lawyer come to the hospital to meet with us or should we wait until my family member is discharged home?

Most personal injury lawyers are very comfortable coming to a person’s bedside while they are hospitalized, or, depending on their condition, meeting with their family.

Unfortunately, many important tasks are required in the immediate aftermath of an accident.   For example, steps need to be taken to set up a no-fault benefit claim to ensure income support and access to additional medical services in preparation for a hospital discharge.  Following discharge, steps need to be taken to ensure proper services are in place to allow the injured person to focus on recovery and rehabilitation.

In regards to possible litigation, it can be critically important that parties are put on notice of a claim, and that steps are taken to preserve the evidence from the accident.  This is obviously far from the mind of those in hospital, but often must be done quickly.

Navigating the complex insurance system in place for automobile accidents can be a daunting task for anyone, but especially for persons suffering from serious injury and their families.  Experienced lawyers who specialize in this field understand the urgency and needs of injured persons and their families, and thus are happy to attend in-hospital for urgent consultations, usually free of charge.
