Shane is an Associate at Ross & McBride LLP, practicing in the Family Law Department. He was called to the Bar in June 2016 after completing his articles with the firm.
Originally from Calgary, Shane graduated with the highest academic standing of Great Distinction from the University of Lethbridge, with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Philosophy. He received his Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of Birmingham Law School, one of the leading Russell Group research universities in the United Kingdom. During his time in law school, Shane was recognized for his strong research and advocacy skills while successfully competing in the school’s Post-Graduate Mooting Competition. He was also an avid volunteer with the on-campus Free Legal Advice Group.
Prior to joining Ross & McBride, Shane worked at a legal clinic in downtown Calgary helping to provide legal services to low-income individuals and families who could not otherwise afford private legal help. His positive experiences working with a not-for-profit legal clinic, such as improving access to justice in the Calgary community, have led him to take a special interest in Family Law and Legal Aid work.
Since moving to Ontario in 2015, Shane has become a proud resident of downtown Hamilton and enjoys the local art and music scene. In addition to law, his interests include playing tennis and soccer, going to concerts, traveling and photography.
As a passionate advocate, Shane has assisted at trial and appears regularly before the Superior Court Family Division. He has also appeared before the Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Court of Justice and Small Claims Court.
