contingency fee arrangement

Yes, it’s case by case but there are situations where our group offers “contingency fee” billing arrangements. This helps better manage clients’ costs, avoids hourly billing every month and the pressure of not knowing when or if the matter will settle.

When this arrangement is offered it is often kept in place until litigation begins (i.e. a formal complaint is made) or up until certain steps before a hearing/trial if one is necessary. Usually hourly rates are used for hearing/trials because, while they can be infrequent, if a hearing/trial is necessary the time needed to prepare and complete may be uncertain. Sometimes cases become more complex too as they progress (which is why they might require a trial, and don’t settle). Still, contingency fees are a very important tool in creating access to justice and I would urge you to ask about it if you are considering an employment-related claim.
