Renee Roy acts as Associate Counsel in Ross & McBride’s Family Law Group.
For nearly 20 years, Renee has been helping families make the hard decisions about their futures. She is well-equipped to support both parents and children in a range of legal matters including prenuptial and cohabitation agreements, adoptions, custody agreements, separations, or divorce.
An accredited mediator with the Ontario Association for Family Mediation, Renee is also a skilled negotiator and litigator who takes a common-sense approach to solving problems. She prioritizes reaching amicable resolutions for her clients but won’t hesitate to represent their interests in all levels of Ontario courts.
When children are involved, Renee’s advice always considers their emotional wellbeing by helping parents remain child-focused throughout legal proceedings. She is accredited through the Ontario Association for Family Mediation as a Child Protection Meditator and Family Mediator. She is also a member of the Hamilton Child Protection Bench and Bar Committee, and a panel member of the Office of the Children’s Lawyer and the Family Responsibility Office.
Renee is highly regarded by her colleagues and is a sought-after speaker who volunteers at legal training courses and facilitates settlement conferences across Southern Ontario on behalf of Legal Aid. Her extensive experience also includes acting as a Dispute Resolution Officer at the Hamilton Superior Court of Justice, sitting on the Hamilton Law Association’s Family Law Subcommittee, and being a member of the Alberta Bar, where she practiced from 2009-2011.
