Diversity & Inclusion
Our Commitment
We believe the diversity of our firm, and of the legal community as whole, needs to reflect the broad diversity of our clients. Recognizing the value of diversity and inclusion helps us attract and retain top-notch legal talent and, in turn, better serve our clients in an increasingly global environment. These priorities will impact every aspect of how we conduct our law firm, not only as an employer and as ambassadors of the legal community in the region, but as legal advisors to our clients.
Taking action
Ross & McBride has taken steps internally to enhance diversity and inclusion, including new hiring and oversight practices, growing our EDI Committee, providing EDI training for all staff and lawyers, and using metrics and data to make better decisions concerning diversity and inclusion. Externally, the firm takes on pro bono work to advocate for people who are part of equity seeking and deserving groups and is in the process of developing a Communications Plan that champions diversity and inclusion. Aside from our own efforts, the firm is a member of the LFDIN and is committed to supporting equity, diversity and inclusion.
The Law Firm Diversity & Inclusion Network (LFDIN)
Building on our culture of diversity and inclusion, Ross & McBride is a member of the Law Firm Diversity & Inclusion Network (LFDIN).
Ross & McBride was the first firm in the Hamilton region to sign the LFDIN Statement of Principles, which outlines how law firms can combine efforts to advance diversity and encourage a culture of inclusion by focusing on recruitment, retention, and advancement within firms, supporting outreach programs in law schools and beyond, and promoting thought leadership and constructive dialogue on issues of diversity and inclusion – goals that resonate with our mission to be a positive force in the community and a strong voice for our clients.
