About
Justyna Zukowski is an associate at Ross & McBride.
Justyna completed her undergraduate degree in Health Sciences at McMaster University before obtaining her Juris Doctor from Western University.
Access to representation and equity in the law are important to Justyna and her practice. While studying law, Justyna was a caseworker with Western University’s Community Legal Services, assisting on civil and administrative law files for low-income clients. In her third year, she competed in the Julius Alexander Isaac Moot, where she advocated for increased awareness of race in the criminal sentencing process.
One of the highlights of Justyna’s time at Western Law was her involvement with Project Consent with Pro Bono Students Canada, where she served as a volunteer and then a Project Lead. Project Consent provides information about the law of consent and sexual assault to high school students across the London-Middlesex area. In recognition of her commitment and leadership, Justyna received the Chief Justice Richard Wagner Award for the Western Chapter of Pro Bono Students Canada.
Justyna graduated with distinction from Western Law and received the Law Society of Upper Canada Prize for ranking within the top 15 students of her graduating class. She also received the JSD Tory Writing Prize for a research paper she completed during her legal degree.
Prior to articling with Ross & McBride, Justyna was an intern with the Ontario Bar Association (OBA), where she assisted in planning and brainstorming Continuing Professional Development events for practicing lawyers, as well as completing research for policy objectives advocated by the OBA. Justyna clerked at the Tax Court of Canada prior to returning to Ross & McBride as an associate, where she assisted judges in legal research and editing of judgments. While at the Tax Court, she participated in a mock trial and was recognized for completing the Best Direct Examination by Tax Court judges and legal counsel.
As a McMaster University alumnus, Justyna is looking forward to being back in Hamilton and exploring its coffee scene.
